A day trip to Lake Manyara National Park is an exciting chance to get a feel for “real” Africa. Lake Manyara is an unspoiled paradise of groundwater lakes fed by underground springs and teeming with wildlife. One of Africa’s premier birding destinations, it’s also a fantastic place to see Africa’s most iconic animals, from massive elephants and Cape buffalo to the famous tree-climbing lions who call the park home.
We pick you up from your accommodation in the early morning for a full-day game drive in Lake Manyara. Although small in dimension (205 sq. miles), the park has breathtaking scenery and is famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs and mahogany trees, as well as for a growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. The permanent residents of this park include giraffes, elephants, impalas, and a large number of buffaloes. The lake is also home to plenty of hippos.
Some unique highlights of this park include the tree-climbing lions and the flamingos on the lake shore. In the afternoon, you will have lunch and then continue with your game drive. Later, you will return to Arusha.
