Your safari starts morning after breakfast from Arusha hotel and a briefing by your guide before you leave. Then, the open road beckons, and you are soon heading for Tarangire National Park, home to large elephant herds. Dinner and overnight will be at county Lodge nearby karatu village. Once you enter the park, the roof of the 4x4 vehicle comes down and you spend the rest of the day watching wildlife and enjoying a packed lunch into shade.

Descending into the Crater, you begin to pick out the familiar shapes of elephant and buffalo on the crater floor, mingled with zebra, wildebeest, and gazelles. It is also one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of big predators and lions, leopards, and hyenas are regularly seen, and you may see hippos in the Crater lakes.

This is a relatively small but diverse park situated 120km west of Arusha. The park’s namesake is a shallow Salt Lake. During your park explorations, you will see monkeys, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, buffalo, elephants, and, with some luck, lions lounging in the trees. The park is known for its diverse landscapes.
