On this 3-day budget safari, we will experience all the excitement of an African wildlife safari in the most spectacular of landscapes. We will visit Tarangire National Park, renowned for its elephant families and iconic baobab trees. Roaming onwards, we experience the jewel that is the Ngorongoro Crater, breathtakingly beautiful, and the best place in Tanzania to see the Big Five.
You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your accommodation in Arusha. Here, you will overnight, relax, and prepare in anticipation of the adventures to come. Our partner lodge, Karibu Heritage House, is an oasis of calm and aesthetic pleasure.
Accommodation: Karibu Heritage HouseOur safari guide will collect you from the lodge in Arusha for the drive to Tarangire National Park (approximately 2 hours). Tarangire, best known for its elephant families, savannah, iconic baobab trees, and seasonal swamps, is home to the life-giving Tarangire River. Animals gather at the river and giraffe, bushbuck, and hartebeest are often seen. The park is also home to buffalo, zebra, and wildebeest. These animals are closely followed by a range of predators, our Panthera friends, lion, and leopard.
From the open roof of the truck, we will have the opportunity to absorb the landscapes and view the wildlife. After a full day in the park, we will drive to the campsite for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Budget campingRise and shine! It’s an early departure for us today to the lush highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and one of the Seven Wonders of Africa. Once we have reached the crater rim, we rumble down a steep track into the 600m-deep caldera, noting our passage through several climatic zones, to see a range of animals and birds. The caldera (collapsed volcano) is home to over 25,000 mammals ranging from the “Big Five” (lion, elephant, buffalo, rhino, and leopard), to hippo, wildebeest, zebra, hyena, and more than 500 species of birds.
After an extensive game drive and a picnic lunch in the crater, we will return to Arusha, arriving early in the evening.
